Tarik por skola

The road to school.

The twelfth text, and the first written for the imperative. The rule was granted on September 3, 2026 — a sentence that begins with a verb and has no subject is a command — and until this page nothing had been written to use it. Text 8 was written deliberately without one, to measure what the absence cost; this is the other half of that experiment.

A mother walks a child to school. It is the situation a command belongs to: somebody who knows the road telling somebody who does not.

Written at 300 roots, with no grammar beyond Lesson 25.

Pagi. Mama aur anak go skola.

Ambil mano mi.
Anda una mi.
No kimbia.

Stop! Lihat tarik.
Es auto. Auto go hayai.
Espera sini.

Auto suda go. Tarik kosong sasa.
Go sasa.

Anak: Mi kan skola!
Mama: Ya. Skola in tarik ini.

Anak: Mi mau kimbia.
Mama: Kimbia. No kimbia hayai.

Anak kimbia skola.

Mama: Studi hao! Dengar mualim!

What the imperative did

Eleven of the twenty-seven sentences are commands, and not one of them needed a word that did not already exist. Ambil mano mi, Anda una mi, No kimbia, Stop, Lihat tarik, Espera sini, Go sasa, Kimbia, No kimbia hayai, Studi hao, Dengar mualim.

Put beside text 8, where twelve of sixteen sentences open with yu because nothing else could carry an instruction, the difference is the whole argument for the rule. Here yu appears once, in Mi espera yu in dom, where it is a real object and not a stand-in for a missing form.

The other half of the same rule turned up without being asked for. Five of the twenty-seven are fragments — Pagi., Ya., Ya, mama!, Bai!, Bai. — which is the constituent-alone rule settled on the same day. Neither was planned into this page; a road and a goodbye produced them.

Negation needed nothing new either. No kimbia and No kimbia hayai put no in front of the verb exactly as a statement does, and No kimbia hayai also carries an adverb — the order is no → verb → adverb, which is the same order the full sentence rule gives.

A command and a statement never collide here. Mi mau kimbia is a statement because it has a subject; Kimbia is a command because it has none. The two stand in consecutive lines of the dialogue and no reader can mix them.

Gaps

There is still no way to tell someone to be something (sentence-types.md records it), and this page wanted it three times:

  • Be careful at the road — written as Stop! Lihat tarik, two commands for one.
  • Be quick when the road cleared — written as Go sasa, which says when and not how.
  • Do not be afraid of the car — impossible twice over: korku is a noun, and a sentence-initial es is the existential.

That is the open question the command rule left, and this is the first page to hit it by writing rather than by reasoning. Three wants on one page is the strongest evidence it has.

No preposition for near. The school is near the tree could not be written, so the text says Skola in tarik ini — the school is on this road — which is true but is not what a person pointing at a tree would say. dekat is an adjective, and using it in front of a noun would be inventing a preposition. Already on the open list, found again here.

No word for then. The car passes, the road empties, the child runs; the order on the page is doing the work. Recorded with the other gaps the writing has asked for, where text 8 put it first.
